Hey everyone,
I hope you’ve all been soaking up the summer and finding moments to recharge and reconnect with yourselves. As we move through the season, it’s the perfect time to check in—not just on how your summer is going, but on those goals you set earlier this year. Remember, anytime is the right time to buckle down and refocus on what truly matters to you.
For me, this summer has been all about getting back to one of my core values: self-care. I’ll be honest—I’ve neglected this aspect of my life for a while, and it’s taken a toll. My weight crept up, my blood pressure and cholesterol followed suit, and with them came the inevitable guilt and shame. I was disappointed in myself for letting things slide, for breaking the commitment I made to take care of myself. As parents, we often go above and beyond to care for others, but we fail to show up for ourselves. I’ve been there, and I know many of you have too.
In May, after a health scare landed me in the hospital (what is it with me and these hospital visits?), I knew it was time to make some changes—starting small, shifting my mindset, and letting go of the guilt. It’s okay to love your body while still striving for better health. I recently came across a quote that really resonated with me: “Exercise is a celebration of what your body can do, not a punishment for what you eat.” That shift in perspective has made all the difference for me.
Since then, I’ve lost 15 pounds, and I’m feeling stronger and more energized every day. I’ve worked hard to change my mindset and prioritize my health and well-being. For me, that means eating balanced meals (I’m a fan of Weight Watchers), walking for 30 minutes daily, and mixing things up with free YouTube workouts to keep exercise fun. But truly, the key has been changing my mindset—believing that I’m worth the effort and deserving of the results.
If you’re ready to make a shift too, I’ve created a 12-week mindset journal to help you get started. I’m offering it for free to new subscribers, so if you haven’t yet, now’s the perfect time to join our community and start your journey.
Let’s finish this summer strong, refocused, and ready to take on whatever comes next. You’ve got this!
With love and determination,
Viv
